I don’t know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?
just the highlights of an amazing last weekend in Cebu. from the spontaneity to the craziness to being backstage then onstage to memorable conversations to the culture/street dancing to the people to the most gorgeous sunset I’ve seen in Mactan…couldn’t have asked for a better way to close the weekends spent in the Philippines
Savagely Beautiful World
My two most recent ziplining experiences perfectly sums up my current approach/motto to life in this savagely beautiful world:
Arms out, upside down, and all around —
I feel alive.
Today I was such in “earth mode.” I woke up thinking about the beauty of the world…
An image of my road trips and lone bus rides to other parts of Visayas in which I would just stare outside the window and look at the greenness of untouched earth of palm trees and mountains that surrounded the bus came to mind. I still do not know how our charter bus would be able to maneuver on the tiny dirt road, snaking its way between palm trees and under canopy. I thought of some of the beautiful sunsets I’ve been able to witness and be in silent awe of…from sunsets over bodies of water in Mactan Island, Philippines, and in Perth, Australia; to sunsets over hills and hills of green in Cebu province; to sunsets over the vastness and openness of Southwestern Australia.
As I write this, more beautiful images and experiences come to mind.
I love the rain, the hard rain that pounds on the house in which I stay, blocking out all the other sounds I might be hearing at that time. I love how it sometimes comes out of nowhere – silence, then that beat erupts like an explosion, and then one can’t help but pause from what he or she is doing and just listen and think “wow.”
Adventure Cafe - Ziplining
Ziplining experience number 4 out of 5. This is my first time going in the Philippines though, and I absolutely loved going with my little cousin Iva. The area, Balamban, north of Cebu City, is so beautiful. Rolling hills of green farther than the eye can see.
Put your arms out. :)
